people lie because it's easy
(or so they think) (or so i hope to disprove)
cheesy romance movies leading them
to believe in telling distruths

acid tongues cut skin from powdered bones
shaven pride whipped into shape, a curse

all you have to do to fall in love
is spill your scurrying thoughts
kept inside, they gnaw and stress
open wide to free the greasy rats of truth

for they soon turn into joyous ginger kittens

fingernails drive into my back, we clutch
at skin for textile support - forgiven
no more lies will touch my lips
except the ones you tell me in my sleep
